Timeline

  • McAnespie's Bankies made it nine wins in a row with an expected victory over an uninspiring Ashfield side. God, it was hard work though. That's three matches now, all against lower league opposition, and so far nothing to write home about performance wise. The winning run goes back to the middle of April when there were some inspired displays on the charge towards promotion. The start of this season has seen the results continue in the right direction, but the games have all been lacklustre.

  • It’s amazing how a team can go from one game with hardly a shot at goal to being 2-0 within quarter of an hour in the next. Hurlford were to find a much better Clydebank side than the one Cumnock faced only a few days ago, The Scottish Junior Cup finalists may have rested one or two players, but were by and large at full strength.

  • The opening day of the league season, A cracking sunny day, and a large expectant crowd in the redeveloped Holm Park. What could go wrong? The answer was…everything!! To not put too fine a point on it, this was one of the worst Clydebank performances in years. There is nothing positive to take from this game whatsoever. The Bankies gifted an ordinary Kilwinning side three first half goals and then huffed and puffed in the second half as the Ayrshire men sat back and let Clydebank play sideways passes for most of the second period. The lack of urgency was astounding.

  • Last Appearance - Kirk. Rob Roy 1 - 2 Clydebank

Clydebank don’t half know how to put their fans through the wringer, as they scraped home by the odd goal in three against Rob Roy in a match that they should have had in the bag much earlier. Leading by two goals at the break the Bankies looked on course for a very comfortable afternoon but then proceeded to hit the self-destruct button due to a crazy own goal by Liam Rowan – the third time a Clydebank player has put past his own keeper this season. The last twenty minutes saw Clydebank display the kind of inconsistency that has dogged their season so far as Rob Roy could have snatched a share of the points. However, the Kirkintilloch outfit are bottom of the table for a reason and the Bankies held on.
