Match Report
A big surprise was furnished at Hardgate, where the local club completely upset the calculations of the Clydebank team. In the first half Hardgate were in spreadeagle form, scoring three goals to nil. An improvement took place in the Bankies play after the interval, but they never looked like equalising and the victory was deserved on play.
Analysis: The greatest surprise of the lot was the defeat of Clydebank Juniors by Hardgate. Although the game was expected to be very fast. It was a great victory, as right from the start the Hardgate took the game in hand, and from the very first run they scored. This early success upset the Juniors a good deal, but it only made the Hardgate men more determined. Every one of the players went into it with renewed efforts, and before half time they added other two goals. The second half found the Juniors better prepared, but the Hardgate defence was not to be caught napping, and beat them back at every turn. The display given by Hardgate could hardly be improved, as every player did well. The display of the Juniors was very disappointing, only Ralston amongst the forwards playing to form. The Juniors have protested against the tie being awarded to Hardgate.
