It was disappointment for the large Clydebank support who travelled to Irvine for the West of Scotland Cup final against Auchinleck Talbot tonight. The Bankies players will feel that they did not do themselves justice as they lost deservedly in the end by two goals to nil.I want to avoid the usual platitudes such as it wasn’t to be, as that would be letting the players off the hook. There’s no doubt that the Bankies had the better of the first half, albeit without troubling the Talbot go...
Clydebank were simply outclassed by league leaders Kilwinning Rangers who played for an hour with only ten men. In one of the most entertaining matches of the season, the Bankies went down by three goals to two but were handed a lesson in motivation, speed, hunger and intensity. The Bankies played their part in the match but the gulf in class was evident over the piece.Jordan Shelvey gave the Bankies a dream start after only three minutes when he won the ball in midfield and drove toward...
Clydebank were unlucky not to take anything from this match against title chasing Irvine Meadow. The Bankies efforts went unrewarded as they carved out the better chances in the 90 minutes, but lost out to a horrible mistake by Michael Morris.Meadow arguably controlled possession for the most part, but it was Clydebank who looked more dangerous in front of goal. A brave header from Pearson just missed the target,McPherson rattled a shot off the goalkeeper's legs and a free kick from the ...
Clydebank's woes continued after they suffered their second defeat in three days, this time at the hands of relegation threatened Kilsyth Rangers. Automatic promotion now looks like an extremely remote possibility after the top two - Cumnock and Rutherglen - both won. It was a poor performance as the Bankies passively allowed Kilsyth to score three times without reply. It could have been very different if first half chances had been taken.Budgie McGhie seems determined to use the squad t...
The Bankies continued to ride the crest of a slump as they crashed out of the Central League Cup with a humiliating home defeat against district side Port Glasgow. In front of the lowest crowd of the season, the players produced a disappointing performance, and the scoreline was a fair reflection of the display.Coming into this match, a number of players were still missing. McInnes, Craig, and Sutherland were all missing. Regular starters Cunningham, Fisher and Packham could only ...

Clydebank PressFaced with the best that the Second Division could throw at them, in the form of newly-promoted Ayr United, Clydebank did well to hold back on this final score. Although they didn't deserve to win this match, the homesters fought every inch of the way and a draw wouldn't have been out of place. The first half belonged to the “seaside dandies." They were fast and easy flowing in attack and sported a defence that would have done justice to the "Maginot L...

Clydebank were sorely handicapped by the loss of "Davie" Anderson and McCulloch in their League fixture with Maryhill on Saturday, substitutes having to be got on the field. Maryhill also seemed to be in difficulties, and the "combine of circumstances" was such that the game was started forty minutes after the advertised time. The Juniors were early the aggressors, but lacked combination. All through the game was fast and furious, and a draw would perhaps have been the value of the play....
