Match Report

These teams met on Saturday at Kilbowie Park, Clydebank, in the first round of the Dumbartonshire Cup, before a large gathering of spectators.

Hardgate, losing the toss, were set to face a stiffish breeze. The opening passages were quiet, both teams taking time to settle.

The Juniors opened the scoring from a penalty taken by Blackwood. A misunderstanding between Thomson and Pattison allowed Ryan to walk the ball into the net. A bad miskick by Orr gave the Juniors their second goal.

The second half was hardly contested. Hardgate scored immediately on the restart. The Juniors then took the game in hand, and rapidly added Nos. 3 and 4 through Munro and Hill.

Although pressing till the finish, the 'Gate boys were unable to reduce the leeway. A hard-fought game ended as above.
