Match Report
The Shire's visit to the shipbuilding burgh brought together a grand attendance, and the play served up was well worthy the crowd.
Opening against the breeze, the Nelson Park lads were soon swarming round McTurk, but in the latter the Juniors have a custodian much above the average, and any shots that found their way into him were dealt with in the most finished and confident manner.
Then McLonie, the old Benburb man, was conspicuous with a pretty run and shot, Needham touching over the bar in his clearance. A slight accident to Brown stopped play for a little, but he was soon able to resume and assist Clark to open the scoring, and at half-time the Perthshire led by a goal to nil.
Before the second half had gone many minutes the Juniors got the benefit of a penalty award from which Blackwood made the score even. Once more the visitors got on the lead, Brown doing the necessary against his old club mates, and when the points seemed assured for Perthshire, Hill put his side on level terms for the second time.
On to the close play was of the most interesting and exciting nature, the ball travelling at a great rate between the respective goals, but the whistle sounded with the total still at two all, giving the sides a point apiece.
