Match Report
This undecided tie in the second round of the Dumbartonshire Cup attracted a big crowd to Kilbowie Park. Their previous meeting resulted in a draw of one goal each, but the Hibs had hopes of improving on this, and they had their strongest eleven on the field. For the major portion of the first half they monopolised the play, but had the hardest possible luck at goal. Some fine passing play was indulged in, but weak finishing coupled with the fact that the Juniors' defence was a strong one, kept the Hibs from scoring. A foul close in gave the Juniors the opening goal, which was got by France, who beat Fraser with a lucky shot. The Hibs tried hard for the equaliser, but Breslin and Riddell maintained a superb defence and time and again the Hibs had to retire without the desired goal. At this stage Clark was ordered off the field. Half-time found the Juniors leading by one goal to mil. Soon after resuming, France had another goal for the Juniors. In attempting to save this Fraser met with a serious accident which necessitated his retiral, Duffey taking his place. Notwithstanding the loss of these two members of their team, the Hibs played up well, but latterly the heavy odds told against them, and Spence had no difficulty in adding another couple of goals to the home score ere the whistle sounded.
