Match Report

A good game at Rutherglen was witnessed on Saturday. The Juniors, still in the Scottish ties, endeavoured to improve their position in the League, and ran out winners by the odd goal. Quin early gave his side the lead, and throughout the whole of the first half one could not deny the superiority of the Clydebank. Their forwards moved in combined efforts, and on many occasions left the Glencairn's half-backs behind. Muirhead, however, was easily the better back, and played his usual sound game. It was easily seen after the second period was resumed that the Glencairn lads evidently intended to rush the game. Wallace scored, and made the game equal, but it must be admitted Cuthbert's previous effort was the outcome of the goal. Play was confined to the Juniors' portion of the field for a time, but their defence prevailed. Both teams appeared to favour the one-back game, and it proved to be the downfall of the Glencairn. Kane received a good pass, and outstripping both backs easily beat McBurnie. The Glencairn had really the better of the exchanges during the closing period, but lost.
