Match Report

This tie in the sixth round of the national competition attracted fully 2,000 spectators to Kilbowie Park. The Juniors opened strongly, and kept up a constant pressure on their opponents' goal, but failed in front of goal. From their first visit to Wakeman, Milne opened the scoring for the Star, and for the next ten minutes the Juniors went all to pieces, but they regained their bearings ere more damage had been done, and from a nicely placed corner kick France opened the scoring. The remainder of this half was in favour of the Juniors, but they failed to add to their score. Crossing over on level terms, both teams played hard to gain the lead, but the homesters were always the more likely lot to score, and after Riddell had banged the ball past Ewing for a second time the Star were seldom in the frame. When Spence dashed through and added a third goal all hopes of an Edinburgh team appearing in the last eight were gone. The Juniors pressed till the finish, but the Star's defence prevented a further score.
