Match Report
The Springburn club gained their first brace of points on Saturday at the expense of Clydebank Juniors, the occasion being the opening of the League season at Atlas Park. The game was a keenly-contested one from beginning to end, and had Clydebank equalised during the closing stages when they showed considerable energy it would have been little more than they deserved.
The home team opened the scoring after seven minutes from a penalty Maxwell being fouled when running right into Bell. Houston took the kick, and converted.
For some time after Petershill had all the best of the play, but were very weak in front of the posts that Bell was seldom severely tested. No further scoring took place up till the interval, at which time the home side were leading.
Early in the second half Whitman put the `Hill further ahead with a grand shot and then McKay scored for the Juniors from half-back with a splendid effort. Fifteen minutes from time Whitman again scored, his play leading up to the point being exceedingly clever, and then McMillan broke through for Clydebank and scored, the visitors afterwards striving hard for the equaliser, but failing.
Play was keen throughout, both teams playing very well in the outfield, but being weak at goal.
