Match Report
These teams opened their League programme at Clydebank on Saturday before fully 2,500 spectators, and after a keenly-contested game the Juniors won. The first half was if anything in favour of the Glens, who played the open game well, and when Fowley opened the scoring for them it was no more than they deserved. Towards the interval Clydebank tried very hard to equalise, but Gilhooley was very safe in goal, and cleverly repelled every attack. The half-time score was 1-0 in favour of Rutherglen. On crossing over the home men changed their tactics, and after several abortive raids Brander did the trick. Then Brown cleverly outwitted Gilhooley for a second time, and little McLaughlan headed the third from a well-placed corner kick. Towards the finish the Glens put on a spurt, but Todd and Breslin had always a bit to spare, and the local team ultimately ran out winners of a well-contested game by 3-1.
