Match Report
A large turnout of spectators put in an appearance in anticipation of witnessing this League fixture at Western Park, Renfrew, but owing to the adverse ground conditions, Referee Ross very wisely abandoned the idea of a League match, and a friendly game was substituted. The early stages of the game were keenly contested, and both teams were doing their utmost to open the scoring, and a good display was given despite the fact that the ground was very treacherous. Falls were, of course, of frequent occurrence. The Juniors were the first to score, Spence doing the needful with a soft shot. The Vics tried hard to equalise, but Breslin and Murray maintained a capable defence. The interval arrived with the Juniors one goal up. The visitors still continued to monopolise the play when the game was resumed, Renfrew now had a look in, but although some good attempts were made they could not find the net, and had hard luck at goal.
Ultimately, after some fine passing. McNair secured the equaliser. The Juniors now began to put on the pressure, and after some real good tries by various members of the forward line. McKay successfully negotiated the winning goal. Secretary Campbell has arranged to have the League fixture brought off on Thursday afternoon, and doubtless it will prove a powerful attraction to the Royal Burgh during the holiday season.
