Match Report
League tie, played at Cambuslang. Brilliant sunshine prevailed at Cambuslang, and the opening Saturday match of the season was largely attended, a crowd numbering from 500 to 1,000 being present. Clydebank supporters were conspicuous. Both teams had a considerable number of new players, and more than usual interest was taken in the game. At the outset the teams were a bit timorous in their efforts. The first bit of good work was done by the Rangers' forwards. Following a foul they almost had Wakeman beaten, Then Stirling put in some very fine work, and he was very unfortunate indeed in not beating Scott. Play now became very lively, and some fine efforts were seen on both sides. The visitors succeeded in making the first score of the game. It was the result of a clever bit of work by Stirling. The first try he bungled, but quickly recovering himself and the ball, he beat Scott with a capital shot. The Rangers were not long in equalising, Balfour doing the needful from a shy in. Another goal came their way shortly afterwards, D. Stevenson beating Wakeman amidst much cheering. Half time - Rangers, 2 Clydebank Juniors, 1. The Rangers took matters easily in the second half. Not only had they the lead of one goal, but they were playing downhill. The visitors tried hard to equalise, but failed. The Rangers added a third goal, and this placed the result of the match beyond doubt.
