Biography
David Beckett never played a single competitive game for the first team at Clydebank. He was one of the Bankie Babes which included the likes of Jim Fallon and Jimmy Caskie.
In a strange turn of events he was transferred to Rhyl FC at the end of the 1968-69 season. The Welsh side played in the Cheshire league and were managed by ex- Hearts player Billy Russell. He wanted to sign a complete side of Scots and how Beckett found his way onto Russell's radar at the age of just 17 is anyone's guess.
Within a few weeks of arriving in Wales and playing in just one match, the Rhyl chairman decided the Beckett and another Scot in the side would not be in their plans and ripped up their contracts.
As far as we know David Beckett returned to Scotland, and this article will be updated when new information comes to light
