Match Report
This Glasgow Junior League match, at Kilbowie Park, before a large attendance. With the advantage of a strong wind, Strathclyde early assumed the aggressive, and for a time kept the Juniors confined to their own end, but Bell and his backs defended ably, and prevented any scoring.
The Juniors seemed unable to make any headway against the wind, but latterly Graham fastened on the ball, and cleverly outwitting the visitors' backs, gave Rooney no chance with his parting shot. The major portion of the first half was fought out in the Juniors' end, but so poor was the shooting of the visitors that no further scoring took place.
On resuming, the Juniors took the game in hand, and kept up a severe pressure on Rooney. which was bound to tell. This it did, as a result of a fine run and cross by Lawrie, which was capped by Ralston slipping the ball past Rooney for a second time. The Juniors continued to have the best of the exchanges, and when Graham cleverly eluded several of the opposing defenders, and slipped the ball to Woods, who planted it in the net, the Strathies' hopes were completely blighted.
Towards the finish the visitors made several attempts to reduce the lead, and ultimately McGougan beat Bell with a fast shot. This was all the scoring, and a fairly interesting game ended in a well merited win for the Juniors.
