Match Report

All action Clydebank regained their scoring form, their confidence and the respect of their fans on Wednesday night with a performance that was all about quality.

A handful of marvellous goals electrified the crowd of 656, who gave both sides a standing ovation at the end of a thrilling match.

Highlight of the evening was a super fourth goal, when on-form Gerry McCabe tied four defenders in knots before leaving Tom Coyne totally unmarked with the cheekiest of back-heels.

Coyne slotted away the chance to add to his excellent to first-half effort, an 18-yarder after brave work by Bobby Williamson

But all six goals on a local derby evening to remember had a touch of class about them.

Coyne's 21st-minute opener was equalised by a brave low to header from Mike Dunlop to make the half-time score 1-1.

A two-goal burst early in the second period set Bankies up for their first league win of the season.

First, Gerry McCabe casually chipped over the advancing Sons defence, and Gerry Ronald nipped in to control the ball and fire past Carson. Two minutes later, Williamson - "the man who runs on Duracell", said one young fan ran from the half-way line, sidestepped Coyle and fired home a low shot from outside the box.

After a few near misses at both ends, Bankies struck with another one-two. After Coyne's magnificent effort, Williamson hooked a lovely cross from one side of the goal to the other, and Jimmy Given stretched to head home.
