Alex Stewart was in the same Maryhill team as Clydebank defender Graham Small who arrived at Kilbowie the previous year. Alex was a solid chunky winger who struggled in a struggling Clydebank team. He made a winning debut in a league cup tie against East Stirling and that was the last time he was to pick up a win bonus in his Clydebank career.
He played a further twelve games for the Bankies which resulted in eleven losses and a solitary point in a 2-2 draw away to Stranraer thanks to a Tony Moy double.
Alex Stewart was reinstated into the juniors and joined Petershill.
