Eric Paton's acrobatic injury-time equaliser salvaged a point for Clydebank.
And it left Forfar stunned after they looked to have secured the win they deserved from an outstanding performance and an opener from Kevin Byers.
Clydebank player-manager Derek Ferguson recovered from injury and Ally Graham and Mark McNally made the bench along with flu victim Andy Whiteford.
But Jim Dick and Rab McKinnon were missing.
Iain Good, Roberto Morris, Paul Tosh and Craig Farnan were all out injured for Forfar, while Dave Bowman remained suspended.
With time running out, an Alex Burke cross found Paton in the box and his overhead kick left goalkeeper Michael Brown with no chance.
Forfar had taken the lead five minutes before the interval when Byers beat Henry Smith all ends up with a fierce drive from 25 yards.
Brown produced a superb save in the 71st minute to deny Ferguson, but he could do nothing about Paton's spectacular leveller.
