Match Report

As expected, a gentle return, and useful warm up against the Bankies U-20s to get the first team back into action, and ready for the pre-season matches which start next week.

Around 7or 8 of the regular first team squad featured in the game, supplemented by four trialists and for some comedy value McMenamin and Moffat were also on the bench.

The U-20s are not the experienced bunch from last year, and they did well until the opening goal for the first team after 24 minutes. After that, it was a bit of an avalanche for the youngsters and they found themselves six down at the turnaround.

You have to credit the boys though, as they were much better in the second half, and had a few absolute sitters before finally getting a consolation from the penalty spot.

Moffat resisted bringing himself on, but McMenamin not so much. Apart from one funny fall when he got dunted on his face by the U20s right back, he actually did OK and even got on the scoresheet netting from 18 inches.

Nicky Little finished the scoring, though trialist26 missed the chance of a hat trick by missing a late penalty..

A couple of the trialists looked decent, but whether they are up to the rigours of the West of Scotland is something else all together.

So the football and the Bankies are back. Here we go!
