Match Report

Dundee Courier

Cowdenbeath took a long time to translate their outheld superiority into goals.

In the first half they built up some fine attacks and created numerous openings but could do nothing right at close quarters. Adopting more direct tactics, Clydebank often had the home defence in difficulties.

It was a mix-up in the goalmouth that gave the visitors the opening goal. It came after 25 minutes. McGhee was the marksman.

Cowden forwards continued to scorn chances in the early stages of the second half, but settled after Dickson equalised. Five minutes later Mullen lofted the ball over the keeper's head to notch what proved to be the winning goal.

Morrison, who had substituted for Taylor, made the opening with a high cross. From this point to the end the Fifers remained well on top.

Daily Record

Cowdenbeath did most of the attacking in the early stages, but found Mitchell and Fallon in top form.

McGhee failed to profit from a short pass-back but with 25 minutes gone he redeemed himself by putting Clydebank ahead after a mix-up in the home goalmouth.

At the other end the Cowdenbeath forwards continued to squander chances but, after 60 minutes, Dickson equalised. Cowdenbeath hit the winner five minutes later when Mullen lobbed the ball high into the net from a cross by Morrison.
