Match Report

‘If only this game could be played all over again, before a 20,000 crowd. It would perhaps all seem so different.’

That was Bankies' director Charles Steedman's view after what could only be described as a lifeless match at Ochilview on Saturday.

One wonders, however, just how much the drab atmosphere at the park contributed to this dull, atrocious game.

Stenhousemuir lost their pivot in the 10th minute with a split eye, but Hunter was an able sub. Ten minutes later, home skipper McGregor was ordered off following an incident with Love.

Play was stopped at the time and the ref was lecturing Ritchie when the pair became involved.

With a bit of luck, Stenhousemuir might have taken both points, but at least a draw broke their league duck. In the dying minutes a Clydebank defender appeared to punch the ball off the line, but Bankies were awarded a free kick.

Stenhousemuir took the lead in the 55th minute when McGuckin fired in a beauty, after an indirect free-kick. The equaliser followed ten minutes later, after Robertson had palmed out an O'Brien shot. McGhee was on the spot to steer the ball in.
