Match Report

Sunday Post

Two great goals from young Jimmy Caskie were the bright spots in an otherwise lack-lustre match. His first was a low shot blasted under the Albion trialist keeper from the edge of the penalty area.

Eight minutes later a joint effort by Hawkshaw and Munro allowed Caskie a second chance. Gaining the ball inside the penalty area Munro passed on to Caskie who sent it home from eight yards.

Albion Rovers tried hard to get a grip on the match. They played quite well midfield and indeed had Clydebank in trouble for a good deal of the second half. Unfortunately, this skill did not extend to nearer the Clydebank goal.

Perhaps Albion's greatest mistake was allowing centre-forward Rogerson to fall into defence when outside-left Junior had to leave the field with a leg injury.

Sunday Mail

A seven-minute scoring spell at the end of the first half gave Clydebank two points against Albion Rovers and proved about the only entertaining period of the game.

Throughout the game entertaining play was spoiled by a series of minor incidents. Time and again play was stopped while the referee warned players of both teams for shirt-pulling, obstruction and tripping

The seven-minute scoring spell by Clydebank gave them the lead they needed. Caskie, outside left, put the ball into the net in 34 minutes and 41 minutes.

The first goal came when he hammered a long, low shot towards goal from 35 yards. The ball foxed the keeper and slammed into the back of the net. Seven minutes later from a pass by Hawkshaw, Caskie intercepted and slid the ball past Newman.

A few minutes before the final whistle Albion Rovers rallied their attack.
