Clydebank had their promotion chances severely rattled last night when they lost 4-1 to Hamilton.

The visitors were ably led to victory by their player-manager Tom Ewing, who was playing his first game of the season.

Clydebank went one down when Ruddy fouled Ewing in the penalty box and Cumming had keeper McDonald diving the wrong way with his spot kick in the 21st minute.

Then, one minute from half time new man Jim Murphy made it two from a Dempsey cross In the Clydebank goal area.

Surprisingly the next goal came from Clydebank whose performance in the first half had left much to be desired. Munro scored in the 65th minute with a full length header. Clydebank then had two men booked-outside-left Caskie and Ruddy.

Hamilton's Coghill scored No. 3 in the 79th minute. He beat three men, then slid the ball past McDonald to score.

And three minutes from the final whistle a rebound from Coghill came off a defender and found McRobert waiting In the goalmouth to hammer it home.
