Match Report

Forfar took to the field 15 minutes before the kick-off loosening up with their new manager Gerry Kerr supervising

Taylor and Grimmond combined well in the opening minutes and Gallacher had to get down smartly to stop the inside left’s snap drive.

When Bankies hit back, Hopcroft blocked two good Hughes headers

Hughes was unlucky after 14 minutes when his cross from the left was almost hooked home by Gilmour, but Taylor nipped into clear.

Seconds later, Forfar took the lead. Taylor lobbed the ball over the home defence and Phinn nipped in to crash the ball beyond Gallacher’s reach.

Joe Hughes, the ex-Montrose centre was a danger to the Loons defence and in 23 minutes Miklinski fumbled a header from him, but as the ball was netbound Lowe dashed in to head the ball for a corner.

Harrow and Phinn were real live wires as Forfar went out to increase their lead.

On the half hour mark, Hopcroft stopped a Fallon rocket from 25 yards. He was injured in the process, but quickly recovered.

In 43 minutes, Hopcroft the Forfar centre half was injured in a clash with Hughes and taken off with a suspected broken nose.

To add to Forfar’s troubles, McCallan burst through just before the interval to grab the equaliser for Clydebank.

Bojczuk took over from Hopcroft who was taken to hospital with broken nose.

The substitute soon made his presence felt by giving Forfar the lead in 47minutes. As Provan hesitated Phinn took the ball past him and slipped it to Bojczuk who tapped the ball home.

Bankies were back on their heels now and Gallacher had to throw himself at Grommond’s feet to prevent a third goal.

In 59 minutes Clydebank were reduced to ten men when Dougie Hay was ordered off after a foul on Bojczuk.

For a spell, the game was spoiled by niggling fouls.

After 65 minutes Miklinski who had come on to a better match had a great save when he leapt to push a 20 yard rocket from Fallon over the bar.

The fouling continued with several players lucky not to be booked or sent off.

Lowe, the Forfar right back was taken off with six minutes left, with blood streaming from a head injury after another wild tackle. Albrecht went on as substitute.

Fallon got the equaliser with three minutes to go from the penalty spot
