Match Report

Partick Thistle, by virtue of this victory, albeit by the narrowest of margins, remain a considerable force in the reckoning for the promotion race.

Although the eventual win was narrow, the difference between the two sides in the finer points of the game was indeed large. Bankies were very disappointing.

For a team which fancied themselves as likely contenders, they were an unfortunate mixture of immaturity, impetuosity, and ill-temper.

These qualities were especially evident in skipper Hay, who was extremely fortunate to escape with only a booking following a lengthy and rather obvious haranguing of referee Kellock.

What proved to be the winning goal was scored by right-winger Bobby Lawrie. His header was the only evidence of 90 minutes of pain and torture on a harrowed visitors' defence.

Mind you, when right-back Reid's cross arrived the winger was astonishingly alone and had ample time to guide the ball into the corner.
