Bankies snatched victory with a late goal which at least denies them the doubtful honour of the Section 7 wooden spoon.
And it was fitting that, in a game where few players looked capable of scoring, little Gerry Ronald should have been the man to break the deadlock, for the Clydebank winger was the best player afield and had come close on several occasions.
The first half belonged almost entirely to the Bankies, with Clyde's only efforts of note coming from outside right O'Neill who first brought out a magnificent Jim Gallacher save and then shot over the goal at his mercy.
At the other end McLauchlan made Clyde 'keeper Young earn his corn.
After the break Clyde came more into the game and the home side were lucky not to go behind. In fact, Bankies would have been one down but for the referee chalking off a 63rd minute Masterton effort for off-side.
Following the "goal" both teams seemed willing to settle for a share of the points, but, just as the 320 fans began to drift home, Jim Given got free on the edge of the Clyde box and sent a low driving cross through the stationary defence and Ronald was there to tap it in.
