Match Report

Albion Rovers dominated a hard-fought match against Clydebank but were left frustrated with a share of the spoils. The treacherous playing conditions favoured Rovers, who controlled most of the attacking play, but they couldn't find a way past their former goalkeeper, Dick Madden.

Madden was the hero for Clydebank, pulling off two incredible one-handed saves in the closing stages to deny almost certain goals from Kelly, Jenkins, and Dunne.

Clydebank had a golden chance to snatch victory early in the second half. A perfect pass from Rutherford found Fleming unmarked, but the Clydebank forward wasted the opportunity with a weak left-footed shot that was easily saved by Rovers goalkeeper Moffat.

The Rovers defence, marshalled by the commanding Cunningham and McMurray, who also pushed forward for attacking opportunities, held firm for most of the match. Midfielder Dillon had a standout performance, while the Rovers forwards, despite playing a constructive game, lacked the finishing touch to convert their chances.

For Clydebank, the left-wing duo of Moy and Baxter impressed with their attacking play, but it was the heroics of their goalkeeper, Madden, that secured them a valuable point.
