Match Report

Bankies are now at last making their presence felt in Scottish football with a really fine win over Queen's on Saturday. Even the Queen's supporters admitted that they were well beaten.

They , topped up this fine win with a good draw against Dumbarton on Monday. This is a good omen for the Scottish Cup game at Boghead tomorrow afternoon.

Man of the match. as if we need ask', was again little Frank Russell who scored two really fantastic goals.

Queen's opened confidently and looked as if they were going to make an easy day of it but in exactly four minutes they were staggered by a brilliant opening goal from Russell who shot from almost on the bye-line. He sent in a swerving ball which had the 'keeper dumbfounded.

The best goal of the match came from Queen's in 16 minutes when their nippy little outside-right Emery did a mazy run up the wing, beating three defenders, swung the ball over to see it met first time by centre-forward Buchanan.

This set-back did not worry Bankies for in 39 minutes Tony Moy put them back in charge with a goal scored from a McCallum cross.

The second half opened with Bankies still on top and that position never changed for the remainder of the game. Russell got his second and his team's third goal in 55 minutes when he took on the Queen's defence to crash the ball into the net from the bye-line, again.

The game now got a little rough and Bankies players were kicked, shoved and pushed all over the ship.

They were by no means angels themselves but the ref was a bit harsh on them at times.

Davie Mitchell, playing left back for Bankies scored in 65 minutes after a skirmish in the Queen's box. Russell slipped the ball to him through a melee of players.

Queen's got their consolation goal in the closing minutes through centre-forward Buchanan.
