Match Report

The magic of Gerry Ronald inspired Bankies a convincing win over neighbours Dumbarton at Kilbowie on Wednesday night.

Sons never looked like getting into the game after his clever 19th minute goal.

After Saturday's Cup defeats, both sides were desperate for two points but the visitors, fielding a reshuffled side, with former Yoker favourite Albert Craig in midfield, suffered a 14th minute blow.

Stand-in defender Ally McRoberts was injured after tackles with Tom Coyne and Tony Gervaise and was replaced by Brown.

Five minutes later Clydebank were ahead. As Dumbarton organised a defensive wall, Gerry McCabe chipped a delicate free kick to Ronald, who nipped in to shoot past Tom Carson from a narrow angle.

After a few near misses in front of Jim Gallacher, Bankies killed off any hopes of a fightback with a controversial 61st minute penalty goal.

From a disputed corner Referee White adjudged new boy Craig to have handled and after Joe Coyle had been booked for protesting, Jim Given made amends for Saturday's miss by blasting home the kick.

Five minutes from time Blair Millar ended his recent goal famine when he finished off a fine Harkins - McKeown Treanor move from 16 yards.

So a fine win for Bankies, with Ronald and Fallon outstanding. which takes them back into joint second place with Ayr United.
